The firm is led by its founder and principal, Thomas M. Galgano. Mr. Galgano has more than 40 years of experience as an intellectual property attorney and, for the past 25 years, has held an AV® Preeminent™ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer review rating in ethical standards and legal ability.

Mr. Galgano began his career as a patent and trademark attorney at American Can Company, a U.S. Fortune 500 Company, and then at a boutique intellectual property firm in New York City where he joined as an associate and rose to partner.  He has represented major U.S. and foreign-based corporations, most notably The Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A., for whom he managed their worldwide trademark portfolio for 15 years. In 1992, Mr. Galgano formed his own firm.

Mr. Galgano has prosecuted thousands of patents, trademarks and copyrights on behalf of a broad base of regional, national and international clientele. His undergraduate studies afforded him a multi-discipline technical background in mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering, with a particular emphasis in material science. He has prosecuted patents in a wide range of technical fields including solar cell technology, medical devices, automotive and consumer products, industrial processes, business methods and e-commerce.

His extensive experience in trademark counseling, domestic and international protection, licensing and litigation has enabled him to effectively counsel a wide range of clients, from start-ups seeking to adopt their very first patent or trademark, to worldwide Fortune 500 companies seeking assistance in overseeing their global intellectual property portfolios.

Mr. Galgano has extensive litigation experience, having appeared in both state and federal court, and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
