About

Ms. McDonald graduated from Pennsylvania State University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree, in 2004. She received her Juris Doctor degree from St. John's University in 2007, where she was a member of the New York Litigator Journal, received the Bureau of National Affairs (BNA) Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property as well as the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Patent law. 

 

Ms. McDonald gained considerable experience in the intellectual property field while at college and in law school. She worked as a student intern at Pennsylvania State University's Intellectual Property Office, where she performed patent research on cutting edge technologies in various technical fields, including micro-fluidics, polymers, superconducting metals, food science, content management software, plant pathology and immune systems/infectious disease disorders. She also served as an intellectual property intern at OSI Pharmaceuticals in Melville, New York, and subsequently at Galgano & Burke and Galgano IP Law where she assisted attorneys in patent prosecution, trademark protection, litigation and legal research. 


Ms. McDonald joined the firm in 2007 upon graduation and immediately became involved in all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright prosecution, licensing and litigation matters.  Ms. McDonald also is involved in patent, trademark and copyright litigation in the federal courts and before the U.S.P.T.O. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) and infringement litigation in the federal courts. 

 

Ms. McDonald's is in charge of the Patent Department in which she oversees the preparation, filing and prosecution of provisional and non-provisional patent applications, design patent applications both domestically and internationally, patent novelty searches, preparation of patent validity and infringement opinions, freedom to operate opinions, patent licensing and enforcement of patents.
